About Me
My name is Christina Nelson and I am a multidisciplinary, multimedia artist. I strive to use my art to communicate scientific concepts and inspire viewers to go out and explore the natural world.

Outreach and Education
I have worked with local elementary schools, biological research stations, and villages to create art to engage the community and educate youth.

Scientific and Technical Illustration
I create my work using charcoal, pen and ink, paints, and even natural dyes from the plants. I work from images and the physical material and I work hard to gain as much experience with the subject matter. I spend much of my illustration time out in the field, in natural history collections or in comparative anatomy dissection labs.

My scientific illustrations encompass a wide variety of disciplines including ornithology, paleontology, botany and more.

Multidisciplinary Projects
Biomimetic Engineering, Medical research collaborative Art Project, 3D printing bones and more!
One of my unique passions is working with people in different fields of study to create multidisciplinary collaborative projects. These projects range from research on extant species to create biomimetic engineered innovations to working in a comparative anatomy dissection lab and using 3D printed bones to reconstruct the soft tissue of extinct species through life size sculpture.
